According to the latest statistical information released by the Xinjiang Bureau of statistics in 2025, in 1999, the city with the largest economic size in Xinjiang was Urumqi, with a GDP of $3.1 billion; the city with the second largest economic size was Changji, with a GDP of $1.4 billion; the city with the third largest economic size was Karamay, with a GDP of $1.3 billion; the city with the fourth largest economic size was Kashgar, with a GDP of $0.9 billion, Aksu ranks fifth in economic scale, with a GDP of $0.8 billion.
